About MISUMI Americas

MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is a leading provider of standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. By integrating a vast catalog of components with a world-class digital manufacturing platform, MISUMI Americas empowers engineers and procurement teams to accelerate innovation across the entire product lifecycle. With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas.

MISUMI and Fictiv together provide a more complete manufacturing solution by combining MISUMI’s strength in configurable components with Fictiv’s digital sourcing and custom manufacturing capabilities. This allows teams to source both standard and custom parts through a more connected, efficient experience while improving speed, visibility, and supply chain flexibility.

Impact In This Role

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who thinks in tolerances, load cases, and GD&T — not tickets. As a Product Support Engineer, you'll be the technical authority customers turn to when they need more than a spec sheet. You'll dig into real engineering problems: cross-referencing BOMs, evaluating structural hardware performance, troubleshooting defects, and recommending the right components from a catalog that spans tens of thousands of SKUs.
You'll also shape the products themselves — reviewing e-commerce content for technical accuracy, identifying gaps in the catalog, and working alongside product managers to bring new solutions to market.

This is not an IT support role. If your background is in mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and component engineering, you'll thrive here.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Product Support
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customer inquiries covering specifications, tolerances, materials, mounting details, engineering calculations, and CAD data
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend the right components — or source alternatives when standard offerings fall short
  • Partner with customers and suppliers to investigate product defects, conduct physical inspections, and determine root causes
  • Collaborate with global headquarters on internationally sourced product evaluations and technical escalations
  • Review and improve product pages on our e-commerce platform to ensure engineering accuracy and usability
  • Provide technical training to internal teams and support new product launches
Business Development & Growth
  • Source components and obtain supplier quotes for one-off customer requests, turning fast turnarounds into lasting relationships
  • Identify catalog expansion opportunities based on sourcing activities and market demand
  • Represent MISUMI at trade shows and customer visits, including lunch-and-learn sessions
  • Support product managers in developing new services that strengthen our competitive position

Desired Traits

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years in product support engineering, applications engineering, or a similar technical role
  • Hands-on familiarity with structural hardware, fasteners, framing systems, or automation components — a genuine plus
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD software and GD&T principles
  • Solid grasp of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Clear, confident communicator in English — written and verbal
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities without losing the details
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Slack/Teams, and BI tools; able to learn ERP systems quickly
  • Experience with e-commerce catalog management is a bonus
  • International or cross-cultural work experience is a plus

Salary Range: $64,000 to $90,000 per year, based upon experience
