Fictiv, coined the “AWS of manufacturing,” is a leading technology company transforming the $350 billion manufacturing industry. Our cutting-edge cloud platform uses AI and machine learning algorithms to help companies build hardware at the speed of software. Come join our growing team!
Impact In This Role
Fictiv is seeking a talented Content Editor to join our marketing team and drive the production of best-in-class technical articles, guides, e-books, and other educational resources for our mechanical engineering community. The ideal candidate is an experienced writer and communicator in the manufacturing industry, known to geek out on topics that include “GD&T,” “12-axis,” “snap fits and press fits,” and “vapor smoothing.” You’re a stickler for accuracy and likely earned a reputation for beginning sentences with “Actually…”
You are the type of person who enjoys tapping into others’ knowledge and expertise. Your superpower is the ability to understand complex topics and distill them into shareable assets that anyone will understand and appreciate. You have a knack for knowing what’s interesting, both for your target reader and search engines, and getting the best out of your collaborators. You’ve never met a publishing deadline that you’ve never… met. The occasional pun or wordplay doesn’t bother you.
Whether working with technical writers, generative AI tools, or rolling up your own copywriting sleeves, you understand the value and effort required to produce great educational content that informs, entertains, and drives brand preference.
This position reports to the Director of Content Marketing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and manage an editorial calendar that aligns with publishing volume targets and topic distribution strategy, in partnership with product, search, and growth marketing
- Measure and track technical content performance, including average search ranking; website, email, and social engagement, subscriber growth, and influence on new customer acquisition KPIs
- Proactively generate new content ideas based on engineering knowledge gaps, trends, and customer questions
- Manage the production of technical content produced by internal and external writers; review, provide feedback, and edit for accuracy and quality standards
- Write copy and produce other forms of content; this role is responsible for a 50/50 split between production management and individual contributions
- Ensure key messages and brand voice are reflected in all external communications
- Manage technical review and collaboration processes in collaboration with product, product marketing, and other subject matter experts
- Collaborate with communications and creative, search, growth, and product marketing team members on cross-functional goals and initiatives
- Help facilitate the production of videos, webinars, case studies, speaking engagements, and other content marketing initiatives
- Participate in strategy and production of company newsletters and social media initiatives
Qualifications
- B.A. in mechanical engineering or similar field, with 2+ years in an educational or communications role preferred; alternatively, a degree in marketing, communications, or a similar field, with 2+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry

- Excellent editorial, proofreading, and writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Highly skilled at writing copy for a technical audience is required (with a strong preference for experience with B2B marketing to mechanical engineers)
- Capability to grasp complex, sometimes abstract ideas and concepts
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
- Familiarity with persona development and marketing tactics
- Experience writing direct response copy with strong calls to action (CTAs)
- Desire to experiment with ideas, iterate quickly, and collaborate with a fast-paced marketing team
