We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer for DataRobot Generative AI platform. You will drive complex, cross-functional initiatives that directly align engineering execution with the company’s long-term strategic goals. You will be responsible for delivering scalable, maintainable systems that solve ambiguous technical challenges and create meaningful product and customer impact. Your work will help shape technical direction not just within your immediate team, but across multiple teams, ensuring smooth coordination and delivery of multi-quarter efforts.
Your ability to execute with high reliability—producing robust, well-tested systems that measurably advance key business outcomes—is essential to maintaining DataRobot’s position as a leader in AI.
Beyond technical execution, you will play a key role in mentoring others, fostering alignment across teams, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Your communication skills and ability to drive clarity through trade-off discussions, documentation, and knowledge sharing will enable DataRobot to scale its engineering excellence while staying grounded in customer and business value.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver robust, scalable internal platforms and services that enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery.
Build automation that ensures microservices are secure, performant, and can be safely deployed to production.
Lead technical strategy and execution for cross-team initiatives with high ambiguity and complexity.
Drive continuous improvements to CI/CD infrastructure, enabling releases to shift from quarterly to weekly to daily cadence.
Mentor other engineers, carry out knowledge sharing sessions, and promote the culture of team growth.
Lead the technical roadmap for internal platform engineering efforts in collaboration with architects, SREs, and PMs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Python, hands-on experience with Kubernetes architecture, including scheduling, auto-scaling, networking.
Strong systems design skills: ability to make thoughtful trade-offs between scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous, open-ended challenges and own them to completion across multiple teams.
Experience improving reliability, availability, performance for a critical software subsystem.
Excellent communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
Fluency in DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, observability, and secure software delivery pipelines.
Strong track record of defining technical direction and influencing decisions without formal authority.
Ability to track and report key delivery metrics to evaluate impact and guide improvements.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of professional software development
Experience working in a multi-cloud environment, building containerized applications, Kubernetes.
Cultural builder: Champions technical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
Bonus: Experience operating Generative AI applications in production
